TVS (Television Sydney), Sydney's newest free-to-air television station, has established itself as a top choice for car enthusiasts with a range of motoring programs that are enjoying significant audience growth and attracting a lot of attention from motoring communities.
Cruzin' caters for fans of hot rods, customs, American cars, classics, muscle cars and street machines. Featuring a range of local, interstate and international motoring events, Cruzin presents technical segments and 'how to' stories that appeal to both industry specialists and hobbyists alike.
Classic Restos looks at completed full restorations of classic cars. Going into the characters and stories behind the restorations, Classic Restos also gives viewers a sneak peek behind the wheel with a test drive. Classic Restos host and producer Mark "Fletch" Fletcher is typical of the enthusiastic producers of motoring programs for TVS. Fletch sums is up this way: "Only someone who has gone through the entire process of a full restoration understands the pain of it all - and the reward at the end".
Muscle car and hot-rod show, Gasoline is proving similarly popular with its demonstrations on how to build and modify, test and drive some of the hottest cars around.
Entertaining viewers with its humorous approach, the C Word is proving a hit across a range of motoring audiences, while 4WD TV is popular amongst those with an interest in off-roading.
Rounding out the motoring mix is the German-produced Drive it! which looks at all the major new arrivals on the international car market and rates them in terms of performance, value and styling.
With three of these programs, Gasolene, Cruzin' and Drive it!, among the six top rating programs on TVS, it's no wonder that TVS is drawing a lot of attention from motoring audiences.
"Our philosophy is to provide Sydney television audiences with something new and different across a range of subjects" says Laurie Patton, Chief Executive of TVS. "We're finding we have real strength in a number of specialist interest areas and motoring is one that is drawing a lot of keen viewers to TVS."
"It's amazing how well known these programs are within the motor trade too," adds Patton, "I recently bought a new set of tyres and the young guy doing the fitting turned out to be a big TVS fan".
Indeed the growth experienced in viewers speaks for itself, with Gasolene audiences increasing by 128%* since June. Motoring enthusiasts will also be pleased to know that their favourite motoring programs will continue to run on TVS over the summer months, with programming schedules as follows:
Gasolene: Tuesday at 7.30pm
Cruzin': Tuesday at 8.00pm
Classic Restos: Wednesday at 8.00pm
